How do I divide a garden into areas?

With planting, low walls, screens, pergolas, changes of level or a shift in surface, so each area has its own feel while the whole still flows. Dividing a garden well makes it feel larger and more considered, because you cannot see all of it at once. It is one of the things a design resolves.
